Silver Fish Inshore Charters

Welcome to Silver Fish Inshore Charters. Captain Stephen Washington has one goal in mind each day and that is to create memories for his guest by getting them fish and smiles. He runs a safe and comfortable boat out of Steinhatchee and specializes in inshore light tackle fishing with either live bait or lures. 

On your trip, you will catch fish on light tackle spinning and popping. The wide choice of species you can target includes Tripletail, Cobia, Jack Crevalle, Snook, Sheepshead, Blacktip Shark, Redfish, as well as Speckled Trout. Kids can come aboard as well, just make sure to ask the captain about life jackets. You are allowed to keep your catch, but the captain recommends releasing it in order to keep the fishery healthy.

Captain Stephen takes care of all the equipment, catch cleaning, licenses, water, and ice. Bring any food or drinks you want.

Fished two full days with Captain Stephen during the week of March 13. Stephen did a great job for us, starting by being at the dock on time, with a well-equipped clean boat, good quality rods and reels, and a lot of lively bait. I rated the overall experience as good only because of weather conditions which are of course, out of the captains’ hands. In spite of a cold front and high winds, we still landed shark, snook, trout, and of course the always present catfish. If I ever get to fish in the Sanibel area again, I will gladly spend my money with Silver Fish Inshore Charters.

Captain Steve was easy going and very knowledgeable. We were on fish right away. We used soft baits for the trout and he netted live “white” bait for the reds. Although still a little early in the season for reds … the live bait drew the wary reds out of the mangroves. The captain fished hard and even added a little more time to put a few more in the boat. Having owned and fished from a boat in New England for + 30 years this was everything I hoped for.

Had a great trip! Water was cold (61 degrees at start) so fish were a bit elusive, but not from lack of trying. Captain Washington was a top notch guide and worked his butt off to get us into fish. We were fishing for speckled trout in the grass flats off Sanibel and Captiva. Boat and tackle were top end. Great day on the water!
